A lovely condition Swiss, Schmidt Rubin Rifle Model 1889. This one is from the very first batch produced in 1891 and is rifle number 11,883rd. Serial numbers ran from 1 to 24900, with only a total of 212,000 ever made. The wood work has a "Tiger flame" stripped finish and looks amazing!! Officially adopted in 1889, it is chambered for the 7.5mm x 53.5 round, and is a unique looking rifle with a clever straight pull action. The Schmidt-Rubin was the first straight-pull bolt action service rifle of any nation. The straight-pull action relied upon an actuating rod, set in a channel to the right of the breech, to rotate the bolt though a helical channel cut in the bolt sleeve. Twin locking lugs were positioned midway through the bolt sleeve, locking the bolt into the receiver directly above the trigger. This action allows the operator to eject the spent cartridge in one motion, and push the bolt forward to chamber a round, cock the striker, and lock the action. Very advanced for its time.

A measure of this rifles excellence is when it is used in service rifle competitions against the various other major military powers rifles. It out shoots pretty much everything in its class and proves that the Schmidt Rubin was the most accurate of all of the smokeless powder bolt action service rifles. 

Still in incredible condition with its original wood work, factory bluing and all matching numbers, including bolt and magazine.

This rifle is of an obsolete calibre (7.5mm x 53.5) and can therefore be owned live without any form of license. The bore is in super condition throughout. It has a full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
