Product Information

This is a rare US model of 1865 Spencer Repeating Rifle. It was the world's first repeating rifle that was only produced between 1860 and 1869. They saw extensive use during the US Civil War being used by both Union and Confederate forces. It was fired by cocking the under lever down and forward, this would in turn eject a used case and feed a new cartridge from a tube in the butt stock into the chamber. Like most firearms of the time, the hammer had to be manually cocked in a separate action before the weapon could be fired. They were most famously used during the Gettysburg Campaign, where two regiments of the Michigan Brigade, under the command of Custer used them. They proved very popular being more than capable of out shooting the aging muzzle loaders, flintlocks and single shot weapons that were fielded.

Post Civil War many Spencer carbines were sold to France where they were used during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870.

Chambered .50 Rimfire obsolete calibre this antique and historic US rifle can be owned live without any form of license. It has a full working action. The bore is in great condition.

It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
