Product Information

This is a rare US made Lancaster percussion rifle, chambered in .36. It was made by Pennsylvanian gun maker Henry Leman. It dates to around the 1860s. The lock and octagonal barrel are both marked "CONESTOGA RIFLE WORKS" and with " Lancaster" on the top of the barrel. It features a drum percussion with double set triggers. The half stock is very slender and bears several old repairs and age cracks. It is mounted with brass furniture comprising the buttplate, trigger guard and toe plate. The solid wood stock has a cheekpiece on the left side. It has its full length wooden ramrod.

This model of Leman's rifle was very popular and was bought by the US Government and Indians, and although he didn't supply weapons directly to any side during the Civil War many of his guns were used by both Confederate and Union forces. Native Indians also favoured them and bought large quantities. They were considered to be better quality than many other gun makers of the period.

Chambered in an antique obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license. It can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. *******RESERVED**************RESERVED**************RESERVED*******
