This is a rare second year of production US made Winchester model 1886 under lever repeating rifle. The serial number 6388, is from only the second year of manufacture (1887). That year serial numbers ran from 3212 to 14,278. The stock has been inlaid with the initials "J.L.S.T." the once owner who is believed to have been from Texas. The model 1886 was another brilliant design from the legendary gun maker Mr John Browning which proved to be a very successful and strong action capable of chambering some of the most powerful ammunition from that period. The original models were available in three different calibres, .45-70, .45-90 and .40-82 WCF (Winchester Centre Fire) cartridges. This example is chambered in its original .40-82 WCF and has a 26inch octagonal barrel.  Considering this rifle is 134 years old its still in very good working order with a firm crisp action, but more importantly it is chambered in a now obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

A real collectors piece and rarely seen in the UK. It has a full working and will cocked, stripped and dry fire.
