Product Information

A very impressive 18th century, percussion single barrel muzzle loading shotgun. It was converted from flintlock to a percussion action by Simpson. This upgraded to  "C drum" with percussion nipple would have been done in 19th century. The overall barrel length is 29 inches with the first stage octagonal with two bands of gold inlay. Other unique features include the silver caps and inlays, oval gold panel marked "Simpson" on the lock with a  hunting scene,  a dog and game bird in flight. The trigger guard is engraved with period pineapple design and detailing. The hammer and rear of the action are engraved with scroll work floral detailing and barrel looks to have Damascus detailing to it. The highly figured Walnut stock has a raised cheek piece and hand cut chequering. The combination of extravagant touches and craftsmanship lavished of this gun would indicate that is was owned by a very wealthy gentleman or "lord of the manor". It would have been used whilst hunting or game shooting on his private estate(s).

This historic rifle has a full working action, and is chambered in an obsolete calibre, therefore can be owned live without any form of license.
