Product Information

The Tanegashima percussion pistols were used by Japanese and Chinese forces during the mid 1840s. They were also used by the Siamese and Burmese. Due to its size and design, this example would have most likely been used aboard a sailing vestal as a ship gun. It is hand made dating to around the 1840s-50s, and is a one-off with highly decorative gold inlays. The overall length is 38inches and the barrel measures 27 inches. Many from this period were converted from flintlock to percussion. A very unusual piece not often seen here in the UK. It can be cocked and dry fired, but due to wear in the mechanism it no longer holds back on full cock. It is repairable though. Would make an excellent display item.

Chambered in an antique obsolete calibre this historic rifle can be owned live without any form of license.
