Product Information

This is a genuine US Civil Starr Model 1858 Army double action .44 calibre revolver. During production Civil War production around 23,000 were made starting at serial number 1.  This example is number 13,723 and has all numbers matched. This serial number falls within the Civil War procurement period. The addition of the owners initials on the base of the grips are indicative of a US Civil War issued weapon. The grips also have the correct period carcouches. The frame bears the correct Starr New York address and 1856 Patent stamps.  Below the serial number on the frame are what look to be the initials "JC". This is the inspectors mark. However, this is normally a single letter. The J may be the Confederate anchor acceptance stamp?

The gun is a 6 shot, .44 caliber revolver with a 6” barrel. The action is very crisp and works well. The gun is mechanically tight and times and locks up perfectly.

Still in good working order it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. This historic revolver is chambered in an antique obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
