Product Information

This is a very rare US Civil War manufactured, Springfield model 1861 Parker Miller "Trap Door" rifle, chambered in .58 Rimfire - obsolete calibre. The lock is correctly marked with the American Eagle with 'U.S’ below and the Parker Snow & Co Meridan Conn, address. Dated 1864 it was part of a very small batch of only 2,000 that were ordered by the Union Army during the War (1861 to 1865). After the War had ended the U.S Government decided to adopt the Erskin-Allin trap door system, cancelling the Parker Miller order. Understandably Parker Miller sued the U.S. Government, Erskin-Allin and Springfield for breach of copyright. Very few of these rifles now exist with the vast majority of surviving examples state side. This example is completely original and complete and is possible one of only a few in the UK. It bears all the correct markings and is in good working order with good rifling throughout the bore. The action is crisp and tight. Remarkable it still has it cleaning rod and sling hoops. A real collectors piece and a rare piece of US Civil War history.

Chambered in a obsolete calibre this historic rifle can be owned live without ant form of license. It has a full working action.
