Product Information

This is a very rare American made J.Harder combination muzzle loading percussion rifle/shotgun. Jacob Harder was based in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania (Pa) from 1860 to 1888. He was a gunsmith and maker of high quality bespoke firearms. He is known to have stopped producing guns in 1888. Due to his very short production period of just 28 years, of which 5 years were whilst the US Civil War (1861 to 1865) was being fought, he produced only very small numbers of guns. He also produced guns for military during the US Civil war. This rare example is in very good condition with two 84.8cm (just under 33 1/4 inches) octagonal barrels. The upper barrel is rifled and chambered in .44 and lower is a smooth bore shotgun chambered for 36 bore (.506 in). Both barrels use a percussion drum and nipple cap with individual triggers. The ram rods are mounted to side of each barrel. The stock has brass furniture with a dear or elk inlaid into the left hand side above the check piece. This is a very rare and unusual hand crafted US firearm of which very were made and even fewer being encountered here in the UK.

This is an antique firearm chambered in an obsolete calibre it can be owned live without any form of license. It has a full working action.
