Steyr made an estimated 36,000 MG42s in 1943. The serial number falls within the known range used on guns made that year. The receiver carries the correct Nazi Waffen acceptance stamp WaA623. The tripod legs are from an original MG34 that were converted during WWII using existing stocks. A truly exceptional MG42 that is a museum worthy example.
