This is a Colt M1908 Vest pocket pistol "Prohibition era" chambered in .25 calibre. As the designation suggests it was first introduced in 1908 and continued in production until 1948. This example dates to 1928 as the year of manufacture being made during the Prohibition period in the USA (1920 to 1933) when production, importation, transportation and sale of alcohol was banned. Small pocket pistols were used by both the police and gangsters as back-up guns,  being easy to conceal in a pocket, shoe or sock. This pistol has its original finish and grips. Part of the slide locking catch has broken off. Deactivated to current specifications with moving slide, trigger and grip safety.
