Product Information

WWII Lanchester Submachine gun, MK1, chambered in 9mm . Dated 1942 with broad arrow and military acceptance stamps. It has its correct 50 round capacity stick magazine and early rear sight. These weapons were more or less a direct copy of the German Bergmann MP28 submachine gun and were very well made. The Lanchester was intended to be the standard issue British submachine gun but was to expensive to make. The Sten was its replacement. They were issued predominately to the British Navy with small quantities also used by the RAF for guarding aerodromes. They were only manufactured during WWII with relatively small amounts produced. The initials "SA" on the magazine housing denote that this one was manufactured by Sterling with this mark only found on early production examples. The first 50,000 Lanchester's were issued to the British Navy. This one is fitted with the correct white canvas sling as used on Naval ships. Deactivated in 1995 to old specification it has full working action can be stripped, cocked and dry fired.
