Product Information

This is a rare WWII FP-42 "Liberator" or M1942 Pistol. Designed during WWII by the US military to arm clandestine and resistance forces within enemy-occupied territories across Europe. The intention was to spawn liberation of nations from within, using their own motivated civilian populations. The FP-42 is a simple single shot pistol chambered in .45 , the same round used by the Colt 1911a1 and Thompson SMG's. Only US company Guide Lamp produced the Liberator. It was designed to be simple and quick to produce, so much so that the barrel wasn't rifled. They were only manufactured during WWII. It saw service with the United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner to today's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who conducted operations against the Nazis behind enemy lines, operating from June 1942 to September of 1945. After the war and to prevent any falling into the wrong hands the British Government ordered that any remaining stocks be destroyed.
