This is a rare pre WWII Smith & Wesson .38 model 1905 revolver. The serial number dates to the 1930s production. It has a very unusual mark stamped on the rear of the pistol grip, a Chinese character followed by a four digit number. We believe that this would indicate that this revolver was part of a small shipment supplied to China during their Civil War which first began in 1927 and ended in 1937, but then started again in 1946 before finally ending in 1950. Deactivated to old specifications with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
