Product Information

This is a superb example of WWII British Lanchester Submachine gun, MK1* with bolt safety - Royal Navy Issued. Dated 1943 it is stamped with broad arrow and military acceptance stamps. These weapons were more or less a direct copy of the German Bergmann MP28 submachine gun and were very well made. The Lanchester was intended to be the standard issue British submachine gun but was to expensive to make. The Sten was its replacement. They were predominately issued to the British Royal Navy this included the Royal Marines, with small quantities also used by the RAF for guarding aerodromes. They were only manufactured during WWII with relatively small amounts produced. Production was also very short lived starting in 1941 and ceasing in 1943, this gun being one of last from the final batches. The initials "SA" and dispersol code M619 on the magazine housing denote that this one was manufactured by Sterling who made 74,579 in total. This example is fitted with the correct Navy white canvas sling It has and original wartime 50 round stick magazine. Deactivated with a working action.
