One of the rarer SMLE rifles of WW1. The No.1, Mk I** IP, Enfield was Introduced in 1913 and is unique to Ishapore.  The Mk I** I.P. (Indian Pattern) was initially a conversion of SMLE No. 1 Mk I and No. 1 Mk I* weapons to the Mk III configuration by addition of a charger bridge to the receiver, rebarreling, replacement of the Mk I sight with the Mk III type, addition of Mk III rear sight protectors, and addition of a Mk III nose cap.  Marked on the left hand side of the metal butt band with the conversion date of 1916 and Ishapore factory stamps. Often forgotten, Indian and other colonial forces played a vital roll during WWI engagements, winning many strategic battles and with many regiments gaining a fierce reputation for there hand to hand fighting. Note the armorers repair to the wood work. A must have for the WWI or SMLE/Enfield collector. Comes fitted with magazine cut off plate, sling and five inert .303 rounds with stripper clip. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
