This is an early production WWII British manufactured Lee Enfield No4 MK1 rifle. It was made by ROF Fazakerly and is dated 1942 - the first year of full production. A lovely example that woud have been among the first batches to have seen service during WWII. In 1949 this rifle returned to the Fazakerley plant and was subject to repair / refurbishment and marked "FTR (F) /49" - Factory Through Repair, Fazakerley 1949. This is a good indication that it saw active service during the war. Post WWII the No4's were in action again seeing service in the Korean War, Suez Crisis and much closer to home in Northern Ireland, to name just a few.
