Product Information

This is WWII production "Lend -Lease" Remington Rand made Colt 1911A1 pistol. The serial number dates to 1943. The initials "S A"  stamped on the frame indicate that this 1911 came back into the US from England after the war, and went through the Springfield Armory for refurbishment. The frame was then stamped SA on the right side, after which it was then put back into service with the US army, and is a clear indication that this pistol was issued and used by British / Allied forces during WWII. The pistol is also correctly stamped on the frame "United States Property M1911 A1 US ARMY ", and has the crossed cannons symbol and "P" proofs. On the reverse is the correct inspection initials FJA (Frank J Atwood). The 1911 was the standard issued sidearm of the US military throughout WWII. Chambering the mighty .45 round (the same as the Thompson SMG) it was feared by German troops.
