Product Information

This is a very rare BSA, MLE - Magazine Lee Enfield rifle that was factory converted into a carbine and used during the Boer War. It has matching numbers to the bolt, barrel and receiver and is marked with the Union of South Africa ownership stamp U with a broad arrow stamp within. It was captured by the Boer's who were expert horsemen and could accurately fire their weapons whilst on horse back and traveling at speed. To make these carbines more manageable and easier to holster the sling hoops and bayonet mounts were removed. With these parts removed it was far less prone to snagging when holstering whilst on the horse. The numbers 1146 on the stock and brass keep are rack/weapon numbers. This would also confirm that it was in originally in colonial ownership whilst in service in Africa, before being captured by the Boer's. A rare rifle! Deactivated with moving parts it comes with an EU/UK certificate of deactivation.
