Product Information

This has to be one of the rarest and most unusual Axis submachine guns of WWII ! The Italian TZ45 was only manufactured for about one year towards the latter stages of WWII. Less than 6,000 were ever made. Although it looks somewhat crude the concept and design were very clever for the period. It utilises the typical blow back system and is constructed from pressed steel parts. The retractable wire stock is copied from the WWII US Grease Gun. But unlike any other machine gun of the day it has an automatic grip safety (the spring-suspended L-shaped lever behind the magazine port). This had never been used on a submachine gun until then. Created by Tonon and Zorzoli Giandoso brothers, they designed a very simple but effective safety which became active by itself. Up until then all other submachine guns only possessed manual safeties. The serial number of this one is 5187 and would have been among one of the last ones ever made. The majority went to the units of the R.S.I. (Repubblica Sociale Italiana), with some TZ45s seen in the hands of German soldiers. Due to its rarity we believe that this example may well be the only one in UK. Being made that much scarcer by virtue of being deactivated to old specifications. A rare opportunity to own a very collectable and seldom seen old spec submachine gun. If you collect submachine guns this one should be in your collection!!!! It can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
