Deactivated WWI Captured and Regimentally Marked Steyr Hahn Pistol with Holster

This is a rare WW1 captured and regimentally marked 1914 dated Steyr Hahn pistol with an original leather holster. The pistol has been issued twice within the Austro-Hungarian artillery regiments. The first stamp originally read "15 FK 29" (15th Feldkanonenregiment - Field Artillery Regiment) weapon number 29 and has then been over stamped to the "13 FK 59." (13th Feldkanonenregiment - Field Artillery Regiment) weapon number 59. Both of these regiments saw extensive service throughout WW1. The pistol has matching numbers and was made in 1914 for the Romanian contract however, only one other pistol has been recorded in the d prefix range for this contract making it a rare pistol. 

Romania entered WW1 in August 1916 siding with the Allied Powers and fought against the Austro-Hungarian's attacking their forces in Transylvania, initially with some success but soon suffered massive setbacks by the end of 1916. This pistol was most likely captured by Austro-Hungarian forces during this period after which it was then re-issued within its own forces who were already equiped with this model of pistol. A very rare find indeed.  Accompanying this pistol is an equally rare original Steyr M1907 pistol leather holster. These unique holsters were first put into service in 1909 and were used during both World Wars. This example is the second or type 2 variant with extented belt hoops. As with the pistols they housed, these holsters are superbly made with a separate ammunition storage pouch or box.

A rare pistol that saw service with both Allied and Central Powers during WW1. Many also saw service during WW2.

The pistol has been deactivated to current specifcations with a moving slide, trigger and hammer.
