Product Information

A rare First World War German Kar98 (Karabine Model 1898az) with imperial German army acceptance stamps, dated 1918 and manufactured by Erfurt. The initial "A" stood for "with bayonet", the "Z" referred to the stacking L shape rod attachment. This is a very interesting gun, the receiver, barrel, trigger, magazine floor plate & follower, barrel bands and wood work are all matched and original. The bolt is the correct type with turned down cocking lever and is German army marked , however the rear section is from a WWII Nazi K98. The Kar98 was used by the original German "Storm Troopers" during First World War trench raiding parties. Being shorter and lighter than the standard issued Gew98s, it was much better suited to the confines of close quarters trench warfare. They were also used extensively by various German units and regiments including the cavalry and mountain troops with many seeing active service again during WWII. Now becoming increasing hard to find. Comes fitted with a WWII era leather sling. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
