A First World War German Gewehr 98 rifle. Manufactured by Mauser in 1917, it has imperial German army acceptance stamps. This example is fitted with a Nazi marked (Mauser coded Eagle over 63) bolt release lever which would indicate that it was in service again during WWII. Many of the surviving WWI Gew98's were reissued during WWII, initially to Nazi SS units. Being chambered for 7.92mm the same round as the K98 they were ideally suited for long range shots. Deactivated with moving parts it comes with an EU/UK certificate of deactivation. It comes with an original cleaning rod.
