Product Information

This K98 is one of the rarer makers of WWII. Under the bespoke scope mounts are the marking S/27 and date 1936 which were assigned to Erma. It also saw the introduction of the “Mod.98” side rail marking using Gothic style letters in place of the block letters. Stocks and handguards were solid walnut. Weimar style eagles were used and a Waffenamt “280” was used on all parts. The estimated production was only 30,000 with all known examples went to the Army. On the stock this example has the capital letter H - Heer (army).

Post WWII it was converted and fitted with a modern Sutter 3-12 x 40 scope and custom mounts. The bolt lever and safety have both been modified to prevent fouling the scope. This would have been done by the Norwegian's whilst under their ownership. It still retains many original parts and features. During WWII the Germans used many different types and variations of K98s with scopes. The top mounted type, similar to this one proved to be one of the best. The K98 is one of few "rifles" that looks even better when in sniper / scoped form. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
