Product Information

This is an extremely rare, completely original First World War German Gew98 sniper rifle. Dated 1915, the first year that Germany started production of this rifle in sniper form. It has a distinctive drop-down bolt lever and cut out in the wood work to accommodate. Every single number matches on every single part. Manufactured by Spandau in 1915, this rifle is one from the very first batches produced. Only around 18,000 or so were ever made. The scope mounts have remained in tact from the day they were fitted. The disc with the regimental markings is still present, but the markings are no longer visible. This rifle was only recently discovered and still had the original leather sling attached, though the leather had perished around the sling hoop joints. Minus its scope which was most likely removed when it was brought back as a war trophy, but more importantly the original factory fitted mounts remain. A very rare original rifle indeed. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
