Product Information

Rare WWII German contract G98/40 rifle. These rifles were produced in Hungary by Fémáru Fegyver és Gépgyár, Budapest, using the Puska 35M (Mannlicher Model 35) as the base rifle with the addition of the K98 bayonet lug and re chambered in German 7.92mm. Production only ran from 1941 to 1944 with very few produced each year. This example is dated 1943, and has every single part matched numbers including the bolt assembly and wood work. Marked with the correct German Nazi code 'jhv' and waffen stamp 173, with an estimated 45,500 or so produced that year. These rifles are seldom seen. Hungary is one of the Axis forces that is often overlooked, but they did side with Germany and fort against the Russian's and Yugoslavian's, however it engaged in armistice negotiations with the US and UK. When Hitler discovered this it then fell into Nazi occupation in 1944, eventually liberated in 1945 by Russian and Romanian forces. An interesting and rare rifle. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
