Product Information

This is a scarce Second World War Nazi K98 G29/40 that was issued to the German navy or Kriegsmarine. In the early part of WW2 after Poland was overrun by German forces the F.B.Radom arms factory where the Polish wz29 rifles were being made was seized. Because it was basically identical to the German K98 except for the sling attachments the Germans restocked them to their configuration and issued them to their own forces. These captured guns and parts were shipped to Steyr-Daimler-Puch, Austria and redesignated as the G29/40 "660" coded and date stamped . Very few were ever made and for just one year. As the captured parts and guns were used up production then ceased. This example has its original matched wood work , bolt and floor plate. On the stock below the upper of the three Nazi acceptance stamps is a capital M . This is the German navy ownership stamp for the Kriegsmarine. We know that this K98 was stationed in Norway during the war. Operation "Weserübung" saw the German invasion of Norway in April 1940. We can assume that this rifle was used during that invasion and then remained there until Germany surrender in May 1945. Post WWII this G29/40 became Norwegian military property and was issued to their forces. A fascinating rifle with lots of history.

Deactivated with moving parts it comes with an EU/UK certificate of deactivation.
