This is a superb example of a US military issued M1 Garand rifle. This particular M1 was by the Springfield Armory in 1952. The date code on the barrel also confirms this. Although closely associated with US infantry units from WWII, the M1 Garand continued in service with the US for many years and being used in post WWII conflicts such as Korea and Vietnam.

Deactivated with tensioned cocking lever and moving trigger.
