Product Information

An early WWI Austrian Steyr Cavalry Carbine straight pull bolt action. The enlarged ball on the bolt makes it easier to cock, sling mounting points are positioned close together, this make handling easier when on horse back. This weapon used a special clip to hold the cartridges which was ejected through a hole in the bottom of the magazine when it was empty. Marked on the receiver with Austro-Hungarian Army stamps and dated 1915. Just visible are the 1915 proof marks over stamped the letter "S" on the receiver ring. In 1930 most M95 rifles were converted to the more powerful 8x56R M30 ammunition and marked with the letter "S". During WWII, Italians and other German “allies” such as Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania used M95 carbine throughout the war, while others saw widespread use with the various partisan armies in the Balkans and Greece.

Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
