A superb condition WWI French military issued Lebel rifle, Mle1886/ M93. Manufactured in 1886, and later upgraded in 1893 it would have gone to war in 1914. Post WWI France had a surplus of these rifles and with Germany’s rapid militarization it became apparent that the French military would soon need to rearm, and utilizing these weapons was a quick way to fulfill this requirement. This work first started in 1935, and once completed this rifle was marked MF 1936. As with all French military rifles of the period it was fitted with stacking rod and bayonet lugs. The M1886 is a repeating rifle that can hold eight rounds in a tube that runs underneath the barrel. It incorporates a clever spoon shaped cartridge lifter mechanism to feed rounds in from this loading tube. The Lebel rifle had the distinction of being the first military firearm to use smokeless powder ammunition. Chambered 8mm it can be owned on an FAC with the correct variation is required to purchase this rifle. The bore is in very good condition throughout.
