Product Information

Rarely seen, a Second World War K98 in .410 bolt action shotgun configuration. Manufactured by Waffen Werke Brunn, A.G. Bystrica - DOU in 1944. This is a late war variant referred to as the "Kriegsmodell". This model designation was used to define it as a simplified version of the standard 98k, literally translated as "War Model". Many of the features on Kriegsmodell carbines were simply shortcuts implemented by the German armaments industry to speed up production of carbines at a time when quantities were urgently needed. Many of these changes were implement in late 1944 just before Russian forces entered Germany. For example the provision for a bayonet and cleaning rod was omitted. Barrel bands were simplified with screws holding them in. These changes can be seen on this K98.

This K98 would have been issued weeks or possible even days before Allied forces pushed into Germany on their way to Berlin. The Kriegsmodell was issued to all manner of Nazi personnel including the peoples militia or Volksstrum.

Post WWII it was converted to a smooth bore .410 single bolt action shotgun and can be held on a section 2 (shotgun license).
