Product Information

This is an original WWII German aluminum water bottle that was captured from a German soldier in Italy during 1944 by Major Thomas Goode whilst he was commanding B Squadron , 56th Recce Regiment, 78th Battleaxe division. His son has provided us with a letter, picture of his father and literature that documents his fathers and his regiments movements during the war. The water bottle is named to a Heinrich Muller and is in super untouched original condition with all straps and buckles in tact., including the Bakelite drinking cap. Then felt cover and fasteners are in perfect working order. The bottle & lid are both marked with the makers code and date C&C.W .41 (.Colsmann & Co,Werdohl, 1941). His son informs us that Major Goode filled this bottle with olive oil, which back then was very hard to come by in the UK, and posted back to his wife in England. During his command his regiment was involved in many famous battles in the Sicilian & Italian campaigns including the famous Battle of Monte Cassino. Very rarely do you find such detailed provenance with general issued items. A great piece of second world war history and a very brave man.
