Product Information

This is a very rare first year of manufacture Australian made SMLE 1907 Pattern bayonet with correct scabbard. The Australian arms factory Lithgow first started manufacturing the SMLE rifle in 1913 with production of the 1907 Patt bayonet also commencing the same year. The Aussie production of both rifle and bayonets was incredible slow and by 1918 Lithgow had only made some 10,000 or so rifles. This 1907 Pattern bayonet is dated 8' 13 = August 1913 with the makers initials "OA" Rifle Factory No.3 Orange. The scabbards locket and chape are also OA marked and the leather scabbard by Mangrovite dated 1943.
