This is a rare WWI / WWII Italian S.I.P.E. hand grenade. Introduced in 1915 its design is a simple but effective and was one of the most popular types of grenades used by Italian troops during the Great War. It has a cast iron body with a predetermined fracture pattern, internal fuse and cap. The initials S.I.P.E. stands for  la Societa Italiana Prodotti Esplondenti, or the Italian Society of Explosive Products. This example is complete with fuse and cap.
