This is a Second World War German egg smoke hand grenade or Mod.42 Nebeleihandgranate. They are fairly scarce in comparison to most other German hand grenades as only limited numbers were produced. Its shape and design also allowed it to be use as a pistol launched grenade. It still retains much of its wartime finish and markings.
