US M4 Camillus Knife Bayonet & Scabbard. This is rare 1953 production version of the WWII M4 knife bayonet to fit the M1 carbine. The overall design is similar to the wartime example but with minor detail changes such as the starburst peening of the tang over the pommel. Other differences include the shape of the X marking on the pommel, and the shape of the letter M in M4. The X on the pommel  indicated manufacture by L.C. Smith (the shotgun company) on subcontract with Camillus.
