Product Information

This is a rare First World War Enfield P14 / P17 Pattern 1913 rifle bayonet with scabbard. The bayonet was made by Winchester for the US M1917 but will also fit the British P14 rifle. This is only the second example we have seen that has a factory "swedge" edge at the tip of the blade. One theory as to why this has been done relates to the DP = Drill Purpose stamp. The bayonet was used for training and the swedge may have made it easier to bayonet the straw dummies during combat training. The other possible theory is it was trialed but deemed not necessary. The bayonet is also US made by Remington. Both are in great condition.
