This is a rare inert Second World War British Royal Navy issued 2 Pounder shell. The projectile is an armourer piercing round dated 1943 and the brass shell case dated 1942 with a capital N stamped above denoting Navy issue. The fuse is double dated 1942 and 1943. This type of round was used to shoot down enemy aircraft and was also very effective at knocking out smaller vessels and U-Boats. Compete WWII Naval rounds are seldom seen.
