Product Information

A rare and original Pickelhaube as used by the German military during world war one. During the first few months of WWI, it was soon realised that the Pickelhaube did not measure up to trench life. This leather helmet gave little protection from shell fragments, and the conspicuous spike on top was an easy target to the wearer. In late 1915 this was later modified, and was made removable, as is this one. The Cockades (round discs holding the chinstrap) denote the province of the soldier. Prussia-black and white and Bavaria-white and blue. This example is great original condition and would make stunning display piece.
