WWI British Soldiers Wrist Band

This is a very rare WWI wrist band. The aluminum plaque reads "PTE.R.E.MILLER 6683 C.E. 8. R.E.SURREY. RGT."  = Private Reginald.E.Miller. number 6683, Church of England, 8th East Surrey Regiment. The war records state that in 1914 he was an acting corporal with the E.Surrey regiment and in 1917 was a Private in the same regiment. The size of the leather strap would suggest that this was given to a child as a memento or keepsake.
