The official German names given to the drums and carry frame are The Gurttrommel - Belt Drum and Gurttrommeltrager 34 - carry frame. The matching drums were made by Markes & Co., K.-G., Metallwarenfabrik u. Apparatebau, Luedenscheidin (hqu) in 1943 and the carry frame by Johannes Grossfuss, Metall- u. Lackierwarenfabrik, Doebeln, Saxony (bpr), also in 1943. Note the three layers of paint. The original red primer then the military field grey and the final field green. During WWII it was common practice to repaint field equipment to blend in with the surrounding they were being used in.
