An original pair of WWII German artillery "Rabbit Ears" ranging or sighting binoculars. This pair are correctly marked on the axis plates with the German military codes S.F14 Z.Gi M/6400 and ESC 5160 KF. They still bear the original WWII paint and have three prominent bullet or shrapnel impacts to the front of the tubes. The general concensus is that these strikes were most probably made by 9mm bullets. The left and lower right strikes was a direct hits. A .303 or similar size round would have probably gone through the metal. This is a clear indication that these binoculars were in action and in use when hit, but even more concerning is the users head would have been directly in line with the strikes!!! Remarkably they are still in good working order. A testament to the quality of German engineering. They come fitted with the original tripod mountings.
