Product Information

This is a David Wynn of London manufactured muzzle loading musket originally built as a Flinklock around 1750 that was later converted to the Forsyth Scent Bottle Detonator system around 1820. This was the first percussion system using fulminate of mercury, before it was contained in an actual cap. At a later date, possibly the 1840's it was further converted to normal percussion cap operation. Incredibly it still retains the rare original Forsyth hammer from when it had the detonator arrangement from its first conversion. David Wynn of London manuafctured very high quality pistols and muskets for both military and highend civilian market. This rare survivor would have been a very expensive hand made gun in its day. It is missing the main hammer string however, the spring fixing screw is present and a replacement could be sourced and fitted.

The gun can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.

This historic and unique musket is chambered in an obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

It is being sold as a collectors piece only.
