RARE Mauser M1887 Rifle

This is a superb example of a German Mauser made Model 1887 bolt action repeating rifle, chambered in 9.5mm - obsolete calibre. Although built for the Ottoman contract this rifle was among one of the last examples to be built and did not ship. The rifle has none of the Turkish acceptance stamps or crests on the receiver just the factory markings applied at the Mauser factory prior to shipping. The rear sights are graduated for German use and the butt-plate has a very rare makers marking "GEBR MULLER Co. REMSCHEID. MADE IN GERMANY" indicating that it was sold into the German or European military markets.

The Ottoman Empire originally order 500,000 M1887 rifles but due to late payments and a contract clause with Mauser only 220,000 were delivered. Those remaining rifles that were already completed were then sold by Mauser.
