Product Information

This is a rare 1820s double barrel percussion shotgun manufactured by Samuel & Charles Smith, Princes St, London. It features a very unusual set of hammers. During this period of firearms evolution the percussion systems had not yet settled on one type of primer as can be seen on this gun. It's hammers are made to take different strikers and firing pins, which with other nipple types could use a few different types of caps / primers of the time. It current set up is for normal cap use, with the special hammers having blanking plugs in place, rather than the strikers. It could have used punch type caps, Pill type caps and others. When new this shotgun would have been an extremely expensive purchase and features Damascus barrels, engraved locks, trigger guad and hammers etc. Incrdibly this 200 year old gun still retains its original ram rod.

The action is crisp and smooth. It can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.

This historic and unique shotgun is chambered in an obsolete calibre and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

It is being sold as a collectors piece only.
