Rarely encountered, a Colt New Army & Navy Model, .38 DA revolver with 6 inch barrel and military lanyard hoop. This example dates to 1897 production and is one of only 9,000 manufactured that year. They were used by US police, military and security agencies. There were also significant numbers privately purchased by US Army officers and National Guard units that saw action in Cuba and the Philippines during the Spanish-American War (April 1898 – August 1898). During WWI they were issued to US military personnel. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
