This is a rare early production Browning (FN) model of 1900 pistol. The serial number 81755 dates to 1904 production at the very latest. Browning reach serial number 100,000 in August of that year. This example is fitted with custom hand engraved bone grips and would have only been fitted at the request of the purchaser and presumably at some considerable cost. The pistol also bears several other interesting markings and has definitely been issued to either the police or military forces. The 1900 was a popular pistol during WWI with German, Austro - Hungarian, Belgium and French forces using them. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
