A lovely condition First World War dated British SMLE rifle. Dated 1917 it was manufactured by RSAF Enfield. This example has matching numbers to the receiver, barrel, rear sight, nose cap and wood work. It is broad arrow acceptance marked on all major parts and components, and the original barrel in 1917 dated. The rear sight has been two set of numbers on it. During its service life the rear sight was replaced by the armour. Once fitted that part would then be numbered to the rifles serial number. This is a very good indication of service use. As with most surviving Great War rifles this SMLE would have seen service again during WWII. It comes fitted with an original canvas sling. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
