Product Information

A superb Second World War dated, Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) manufactures code M/47C , Lee Enfield No5 MKI Jungle Carbine, chambered in .303. First produced in early 1944, the No5 is one of the rarest of the Lee Enfield Carbines. Only produced by ROF Fazakaley and BSA from 1944 to 1947. Of these two makers BSA made by far the fewest, only around 83,000 (1/3) of total production, and for this reason are far more sought after. This example has its original matching wood work and bolt, with the correct makers codes on various parts. It is dated 1945 and has many broad arrow acceptance markings. The No5 saw extensive service during WWII, rumor has it that it was designed primarily for airborne use, rather than the Asian jungles for which it is most commonly associated with. No5s did see extensive use in Holland during the Battle of Arnhem being issued to British paratrooper units where many were captured. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
