This is a WWII dated Turkish M1938 Mauser Rifle. One of only 49,000 produced by Kirkkale Arms Factory, Ankara in 1944 with all visible numbers matching and lovely original wood work. These rifles were converted by the Turks using German first world war Gew98s. Originally used by Turkish forces during the Gallipoli campaign of 1915-16, these rifles were later reworked to 7.92mm cailbres during WWII, Turkey eventually sided with Allied forces in early 1945. A very interesting WW1 & WW2 Allied rifle and fairly scarce as most remained in Turkey.
